I came up with the idea for this fic while helping my friend assemble a portable DVD player, in spite of some interruptions. Enjoy!

‘’Like, wow!’’ Kitty said after opening the birthday gift from her parents. ‘’I, like, can’t believe I got a mini DVD player! But, like, I wonder where the batteries go?’’ ‘’Maybe there’s a slot for ‘em on the bottom.’’ Rogue replied. ‘’No, I like, already checked.’’ Kitty said. ‘’Does this thing come with instructions?’’ ‘’Found ‘em!’’ Rogue shouted, just as the door opened.

‘’Hey, Kitty, can I borrow your notes from third period? I lost mine.’’ Asked Bobby. ‘’Sure,’’ Said Kitty ‘’But I’ll need them back.’’ And with that, he took the notes and left Kitty and Rogue to decipher the instruction booklet.

‘’Ah think Ah’ve found the problem.’’ Rogue said ‘‘well, like, what is it?’’ Kitty replied. ‘‘Okay, it says somthen ‘bout a hook-up cord. Maybeh we need that to make it work.’’ Rogue explained. Just then, Kurt ‘ ports in.

‘’Hey Kitty! Oh. Hi, sis. Sorry, didn’t see you there. Vaht are you two doing?’’ Kurt said after he ‘ported in. ‘’Kit’s tryen to get her DVD player to work.’’ Rogue said in response to his question. ‘’Vell, maybe I can help.’’ Kurt said eagerly. ‘’ Did you look at the instructions?’’ ‘’Yeah. They said somthen about a battery charger.’’ Said Rogue. ‘’Yeah. Now we, like, just need to find it.’’ Kitty said, as the door opened, again.

‘’Hey, what’s up?’’ Jean said as she entered. ‘’Try the ceiling.’’ Rogue said sarcastically. ‘’Hah, hah. Seriously, what are you doing?’’ Jean asked. ‘’Okay, I, like, seriously don’t need this much help!’’ Said one rather annoyed Kitty Pryde. ‘’Kurt, Jean, I don’t mean to be rude, but will you, like, please leave now?’’ ‘’Okay. Sheesh, don’t be so grumpy about it.’’ Kurt replied as he and Jean left the room.

‘’I found two connecter thingies, but I, like, don’t know which one it is.’’ Kitty said a few minutes later. ‘’Try this one.’’ Rogue said. ‘’You know, the one that says ‘battery charger’ on it.’’ ‘’Oh. Like, how did we, like, overlook it before?’’ Kitty said. ‘’There’s just one thing left to figure out.’’ ‘’Yeah. How do yah work the remote?’’ Said Rogue, just when Scott walked in. ‘’Hey. What’cha girls up to?’’ ‘’Oh, man.’’ Kitty and Rogue said in unison. ‘’What did I say?’’ Scott says.
