A group called Hydra was wanting to build the ultimate weapon, a perfect soldier that they could command and would be unstoppable. They used the DNA from Weapon X (Wolverine) and attempted to create a solider 22 times, but failed. Then on the 23rd attempt they finally succeeded. The key was Logan's healing factor. They trained X23 to be a fierce soldier, but this resulted in her being emotionally unstable and having a bad temper.
She blamed Wolverine for her traumatic childhood and goes on a rampage for revenge. Instead of revenge she finds her only real family in Wolverine. She later leaves Wolverine to go destroy Hyrda for what they put her through. She succeeded and now can start her life over again.
X23 is a girl with a lot of angst and rage. She's like a female version of Wolverine who doesn't open up to others very quickly. A fierce fighter with weapons that explode, X23 is not someone you want to pick a fight with. She hasn't been shown in X-Men Evolution as much so it is unknown what happened to her after she blew up Hydra. At the very end of the season it is assumed she eventually joined the X-Men team.
